Keeping our College-Aged Children and Ourselves Mentally Healthy & Safe
March 28 & 29, 2022 7:00-8:30pm (this is a two-session workshop)
Hofstra University is proud to offer to parents of Hofstra University students an engaging and interactive two-night workshop which will explore the mental health and well-being related issues around college aged students. The presenter will be Debra Caputo who is an international professional speaker, consultant, and trainer in the area of Mental Health & Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Postvention. As the President of The Health & Safety Connection, Debra has worked on Long Island and throughout the USA and England at various levels. Debra will share with you the basics of mental health, mental health challenges, components of upstream prevention and sources of strength ideas, resources available in our community and nationally and the importance of conversation and approaches when working with young adults. Debra has answered the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, is a Region Leader for the Suicide Prevention Center of New York, is a trainer for various organizations to provide evidence-based programs and certified trainings, worked for the JED Foundation, a Board Member for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and involved with other mental health organizations and coalitions. Debra will provide opportunities for engaging activities, break out room sessions, role-playing opportunities and detailed information on reaching out for help.
